Cantina Arnaldi: where Authenticity Meets Professionalism

Cantina Arnaldi is a cozy, typical osteria located in Santa Croce, a sestiere frequented by locals, just a few minutes from the train station. Either you are craving for a typical Venetian cichetto, looking for a delicious light lunch, longing for a relaxed aperitivo or hunting for a late night drink, here you are in safe hands.

Andrea Degnato and Katia Resenterra, who look a perfectly balanced couple at work, as well as in life, met for the first time while working at the same restaurant in Cannaregio. It didn’t take much to realize that together they could make a great team and in 2015, with years of experience and a deep passion for hospitality, finally opened Arnaldi.

Having worked for such a long time in the field, both in Italy and abroad, the young couple brought all its knowledge into this warm place, greeting each guest with professionalism, elegance and authenticity. In this regard, Andrea loves to remind that a fine place is made by a friendly atmosphere, a gentle smile and a neat bathroom. And we couldn’t agree more!

As far as the wines, they are selected one by one with the greatest attention and a keen focus on small producers, both local and from other Italian regions. In order to discover the newest, interesting labels or the less commercial wineries, owners occasionally leave for a short trip and rarely come back with empty hands. And if you happen to be curious about a certain wine, or if you’re simply looking for a recommendation, you won’t be disappointed: the suggestion is never obvious or overrated.

Arnaldi offers also a range of typical Venetian cichetti, prepared with carefully selected products that either belong to Slow Food presidia or are literally homemade. Native from a small town in the Dolomites, Katia’s family has a small farm, producing cured meat, cheese, and especially a delicious ricotta, that seems to be the most requested delicacy nowadays!

Not very familiar with technology, the guys don’t have a website and occasionally update their Facebook page. Yet, they seem to have one of the highest rates on Tripadvisor. Every night, around aperitivo time, a cheerful crowd gathers in front of their door, which is always open in the spring nights, both for locals and for lucky visitors who happen to stop by.

Have a Glass in Venice is proud to include this unique wine bar to its selection of authentic Venetian places. We are sure you'll deeply enjoy the experience!
